Follow up from our 1st Meeting

random1.jpg

Our first meeting was a great success!! We had eight people attend. The following churches were represented: Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Flamingo Road Church, Abundant Life Christian Centre and of course Oasis Church! We ate some food, got to know each other one-on-one with a questionnaire and had an open forum where we could ask questions, share frustrations and encourage one another.

It went better than I could’ve imagined. I am so thankful for all of you who attended and have pledged to come again! As the date gets closer I will update you all on the next meeting and what we will do.

Our first meeting!

I’m so excited that our first meeting is this Saturday, November 3rd! I’m anxious to meet all of you and see the impact that this network will have on everyone! I know it will be a life-saver for some of us and for others it will be a time for you to share your wisdom and expertise!

Can’t wait to meet you all and get this going! See you on Saturday at 11 a.m.!
Email me at jennc@visitoasis.org if you need directions!

Project Requests

For my communications friends (and those who are just interested), I have a link to a project request form that I made for our church. I think it will greatly increase my organization of projects and also help me to know when to say “no”. By nature, I have a hard time telling people no when I should. Anyway, I hope this helps you guys. I got some of the content from Granger Community Church and Providence Baptist Church.

If you want more communications resources, check out this website. Enjoy!

A little more about this network

Here’s the email that I sent out to every church I could think of in the south Florida area. I’ve grown up in this area, but I know I didn’t even come close to emailing everyone I could. I want to get the word out! Forward this on to anyone you know doing communications/web design/graphic design in ministry!

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Jenn Collins and I am the Communications Director at Oasis Church (formerly Church of Pembroke Pines). I am excited to share with you that I am starting a network of communications professionals and graphic designers in ministry!

My vision for this network is to see communications professionals and graphic artists alike come together and help each other do ministry. It will be a place where we can share our struggles and victories, our tips and tricks and maybe even make a few friends! There has been many times where I have wanted to be able to connect with someone local who can tell me what company they use for printing, signs, web design and more. With this network we can collaborate and bring our own talents, skills and knowledge to the table!

If you are interested, I am planning our first meeting on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Oasis Church in our Community Café. See directions below. Please RSVP. Lunch will not be provided, but there will be an opportunity for people to get together after and go to lunch after the meeting.

Please pass it on! I couldn’t think of and don’t know of every church and ministry in the tri-county area; I need your help! If you, someone in your church, another church or ministry or even a friend of yours would like to join our network, please forward this email to them! Because of the nature of this network, I would prefer that this person be someone who is actively working in ministry (church, non-profit, etc.) doing communications, marketing, PR, graphic design, etc.

Check out the Communications Network blog! Check often for more updates or subscribe to the RSS feed.

For a map and directions to Oasis Church, go to visitoasis.org and click on ‘Maps’ on the right side of the page.

Pembroke Pines, FL 33025

We are located on Flamingo Road, one block north of Pembroke Road. When you arrive at the church, enter through the double doors that have “Community Café” printed on the doors. Looking forward to seeing you there! Feel free to contact me using the information below if you have any questions!

Serving you,

Jenn Collins, Communications Director
